So I have no idea what to say. Ya pretty good week I must say. Decently warm fall weather and not too wet. Unfortunately nothing super exciting happened. We haven't had an investigator at church for a long while and it's really taking its toll. We need some new faces to visit!
We had some good visits with members where they have noticed how the missionary work is really picking up and people who they never guessed would come back to church have asked if they could come or a non member friend will ask about their beliefs. We are in the beginning stages of a true hastening.
So since not a lot happened this week, you guys all get some more of my spiritual study input! Or whatever you want to call it!
So I gave a little talk on Sunday. Classic- asking the missionary 5 minutes before sacrament meeting starts... so I was drawn towards the sacrament and the atonement of Jesus Christ (probably because I was thinking of what to say during the sacrament).
First off a quote from President Packer. He said: “The Atonement leaves no tracks, no traces. What it fixes is fixed. … It just heals, and what it heals stays healed.”
What a special gift to have from our beloved Saviour Jesus Christ. Often quoted at Christmas or Easter "because of him" fits perfectly into the thoughts. Because of him we can look to the future with a certain hope and peace. Knowing that we will be able to live with our Loving Heavenly Father for all time and eternity because of him is so comforting!
Now it's difficult to express what Jesus Christ went through while speaking let alone an email but I will give it a shot.
A scripture from Mosiah helps us understand what Jesus Christ would eventually go through to complete the atonement.
Mosiah chapter 3 verse 7 says, And lo, he shall suffer temptations , and pain of body, hunger , thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer , except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
He suffered all pains and afflictions of every kind for us so we can make our mistakes right. He paid the price only he could pay. We no longer are held hostage by our sins. We can now, through repentance and the sacrament, be forgiven... I am beyond grateful for this blessing.
The sacrament should be a focus for us during the meeting we attend at church. Jesus Christ didn't do all that he did so we can sing a song during priesthood opening exercises. But he did do it all so we can be forgiven for our sins. So let's take a peek into what we can do to prepare for the time we have to partake of the sacrament.
Elder Jay E. Jensen gave a great talk called "Arms of Safety" in October 2008. Talking about the atonement of Jesus Christ and how it connects to the sacrament. About the sacrament he has said,
"By coming humbly and fully repentant to sacrament meeting and worthily partaking of the sacrament, we may feel those arms again and again."
There's a lot of fire power in a short sentence there. I will try to break it down. Coming humbly to partake of the sacrament is recognizing that as to our strength we are weak. But through the saviour we can be made strong. How does being fully repentant help us be prepared for sacrament? I believe at the moment of fully repentant we are ready to feel the cleansing power of the atonement. We have done our part in the repentance process and the rest is up to the saviour. Worthily. Well if we intend on receiving any sort of blessing we should be worthy. So if we want the blessings of the sacrament let's be worthy. "We may feel those arms again and again." Those arms are the loving arms of the Saviour. He will love and and support us and build us up so we can fight back with more strength!
I know Jesus is the Christ. Our Saviour and Redeemer. He literally saved our spirits and our bodies. Such an impressing act of love. He has once again called a prophet to guide his church. Don't think he is here to handle the structure of the church. He is the only man on earth who has authority to use all of the priesthood keys. He is a seer and revelator. He loves us and guides us with love. Take the time to carefully listen to his council. It is full on revelation from God for us. Now.
I send my love to all my family and friends!
